Frequently asked Questions
Drying Time
Touch-Dry: 1–2 hours
Recoat Time: 4–6 hours Feels dry, but not fully set
Curing Time
Light Use: 24–48 hours
Full Cure: 5–7 days
Fully hardened and waterproof
Quick Tip
Dry = “feels dry”
Cure = “fully done and tough”
For best results, you should wait at least 28 days before coating a new concrete slab with Dura-Rubber. This allows the concrete to fully cure and for excess moisture to evaporate.
Before applying Dura-Rubber, ensure the concrete meets these conditions:
-Moisture Content: The slab should have a moisture level below 5% (use a moisture meter to check).
- pH Level: The pH should be between 7 and 10.
- Surface Prep: Etch or mechanically profile the concrete to create a suitable bonding surface.
- Clean & Dry: The surface must be free from dust, oil, and contaminants.
If you’re in a humid or cold climate, curing may take longer. Always test for moisture before applying.

Can Dura-Rubber Be Used on 3-Tab Shingle Roofs?
Yes, you can use Dura-Rubber on a 3-tab shingle roof, with a few important considerations:
When It Can Work:
- Temporary repairs or maintenance – Ideal for sealing small cracks, joints, flashing, vents, and skylights.
- Localized waterproofing – Great for preventing leaks in vulnerable areas.
- Top coat over properly prepped shingles – Shingles must be clean, dry, and securely adhered for best results.
- Extend the life of your roof – Dura-Rubber adds a waterproof, UV-resistant membrane that helps protect against weathering and damage, potentially extending the life of your existing roof.
Keep in Mind:
- Not a replacement for shingles – Dura-Rubber enhances protection but doesn’t serve as a standalone roofing system.
- Shingle texture requires extra care – The uneven surface may require more product and careful application into grooves.
- UV exposure – While Dura-Rubber is UV resistant, adding a reflective or colored topcoat can boost performance and aesthetics.
Pro Tip:
For best results on sloped shingle roofs, apply a primer and consider using reinforcement mesh over seams and valleys.
Using Dura-Rubber on a Garage Floor
With the latest formulation, Dura-Rubber is now tested and proven to withstand hot tire pickup, making it a solid choice for garage floors, even with regular vehicle traffic.
Key Benefits:
- Hot tire resistance – No peeling or lifting from parked vehicles.
- Waterproof & chemical resistant – Great for oil, gas, salt, and other garage-related spills.
- Flexible and crack-resistant – Expands and contracts with your slab.
- Slip-resistant – Can be textured for extra traction.
- Easy to apply – Roll, brush, or spray directly on properly prepped concrete.
Application Tips:
- Surface prep is still crucial – Clean, dry, and etched concrete = best adhesion.
- Primer recommended – Especially for older or porous concrete.
- Optional sealer coat – For extra durability, easier cleaning, and a clean finish, especially in high-traffic zones.
How long does Dura-Rubber High Build last?
With proper surface preparation and application, Dura-Rubber High Build typically lasts 10 to 15 years before needing reapplication.
Its lifespan can vary based on several factors:
• Surface preparation – Clean, dry, and properly primed surfaces help ensure maximum adhesion
and durability.
• Application – Applying the correct number of coats at the recommended thickness is crucial.
• UV exposure – While Dura-Rubber is UV-resistant, prolonged sun exposure can affect longevity
over time.
• Chemical exposure – Harsh chemicals or environmental conditions can reduce the coating’s lifespan.
• Wear and tear – High foot traffic or abrasion can lead to earlier maintenance needs.
To extend the life of the coating and make maintenance easier, we recommend applying a compatible sealer or topcoat. This added layer enhances protection against wear, weather, and staining—keeping the surface in top condition for longer.
Thinning Dura-Rubber Properly:
Use propylene glycol (not water) if thinning is necessary.
Add no more than 5% by volume.
Benefits:
• Improves flow and workability • Prevents cracking during cure
• Extends open time, giving you more time to work with the coating before it starts to set up
• Ideal for spray applications or hot/dry conditions
Do not use water to thin it can lead to cracking and poor film formation. T
How to Use Reinforcement Fabric:
1. Surface Prep:
• Clean and dry the area thoroughly.
• Remove dust, grease, or loose material.
2. Prime if Needed:
• If a primer is required for the surface, apply the primer first and allow it to dry completely before
continuing.
3. Repair Cracks First:
• Deep or wide cracks must be filled with latex caulk or High-Past before applying fabric.
• Allow the repair compound to dry fully.
4. Apply Base Coat:
• Apply a wet base coat of Dura-Rubber to the area where reinforcement is needed. 5. Embed the Fabric:
• While the coating is still wet, press the reinforcement fabric into the base layer.
• Smooth it out with a brush, roller, or trowel to remove wrinkles and ensure full contact.
• The fabric should be fully saturated with Dura-Rubber underneath. 6. Top Coat:
• Immediately apply a second coat of Dura-Rubber over the fabric.
• Let it dry, then apply additional coats as needed.
Pro Tips:
• Use reinforcement fabric on 90° wall intersections, floor-to-wall transitions, and other joint areas to
improve flexibility and prevent water intrusion.
• Overlap fabric edges by 2”–4” on larger areas.
• Pre-cut pieces for corners, joints, or tight spaces. • Perfect for high-stress areas like roofs, gutters,
pools, basement walls, and more.

More Flexible than Silicone
Silicone can crack or peel over time and cant be painted.
Dura-Rubber remains flexible and strong, adapting to movement without losing its seal.
Easier to Apply than Epoxy
Epoxies require mixing, strict timing, and careful prep.
Dura-Rubber applies like paint, with no need for complicated setup or special tools.
Superior UV & Weather Resistance
Silicone and epoxy can degrade under sun and water.
Dura-Rubber forms a UV-stable, waterproof membrane that’s built to last in harsh conditions.
Low Maintenance, Long Life
Once cured, Dura-Rubber resists cracking, peeling, and wear.
No frequent resealing just long-term protection.

Generally, 9 months unopened or 6 months opened but resealed tightly and stored in a cool, dark space.
What our customers say
I first purchased rubberizeit over 5 years ago to protect our house in Louisiana from the flooding.Every year Rita and I would have to dry out carpet and fix damaged drywall from flooding.I removed 12” of siding and replaced it with cement board and waterproofed it with rubberizeit. For five years our house has been dry. I painted my house this year and the rubberizeit I put on five years ago was black I purchased a five of rubberizeit and they were able to tint it to match my house.Thank you Mr Paul

I had the opportunity to work the rubberizeit team. They are in Oregon and I am I Texas. I was looking to refresh my pool/spa via high end paint vs a costly re-plaster. Their paint was a perfect solution. I needed 20-25 gallons to get two full coats. Although there was a small snag with my initial order the rubberizeit customer service team jumped into action and handled all my questions and even provided additional paint to resolve the earlier snag with the initial order. Impressed with the product and the company.

Rubberize It! liquid rubber coating was the perfect solution for me. By painting the bonding layer up my walls, into my corners, and down my pitches there was no folding, pleating, or splicing I needed to do and it made one integral coating. Next I laid down my mesh, since this is thin mesh and not a water impervious sheet, I could just lay it and push it into my bonding layer and it created a continuous layer across my entire surface and all my abutments. This year I need to build two more decks on opposite corners of the house. Two more batches of Rubberize It! liquid rubber please. Thank you for providing me this great solution that fit my custom project.
