Thickening 

As a Thickening Agent for Dura-Rubber or Dura-Rubber High-Build

Crumb Rubber can be added to Dura-Rubber or Dura-Rubber High-Build to create a thicker, trowel-grade material for repairing uneven surfaces, filling voids, and creating textured finishes.

Recommended Mix Ratios

Application

Crumb Rubber

Light Thickening

Up to 1 lb per gallon

Heavy Patching / Trowel Application

2–3 lbs per gallon

Add the Crumb Rubber gradually while mixing until a smooth, uniform consistency is achieved.

Note: The more Crumb Rubber added, the thicker the mixture becomes. Do not exceed 3 lbs per gallon, as excessive filler can reduce workability and adhesion.

Trowel Application

For filling low spots, repairing damaged concrete, or resurfacing:

  1. Prepare the surface by removing loose material, dirt, grease, and contaminants.
  2. Mix Dura-Rubber or High-Build with 2–3 lbs of Crumb Rubber per gallon.
  3. Blend thoroughly until the mixture reaches a smooth, putty-like consistency.
  4. Apply using a flat steel trowel, pressing firmly into cracks, voids, and damaged areas.
  5. Smooth the surface as desired.
  6. Allow the material to cure before applying additional coats if required.

Non-Slip Additive

Crumb Rubber may also be used to create a durable, slip-resistant finish.

Mix Ratio

  • 1 lb of Crumb Rubber per gallon of Dura-Rubber or Dura-Rubber High-Build.

Mix thoroughly until the Crumb Rubber is evenly dispersed throughout the coating.

Apply using a roller, brush, or squeegee as you normally would.

The cured coating will have a textured surface that improves traction while maintaining flexibility.

Patching cracks and holes 

 

The Dura-Rubber High-Build Patch Mix is designed to repair and rebuild damaged concrete surfaces before applying the High-Build coating system. It is ideal for filling cracks, holes, chips, pitting, and other surface defects.

Mixing Instructions

For most repairs, combine Dura-Rubber High-Build with Crumb Rubber at approximately a 1:1 ratio by volume.

Adjust the consistency as needed:

  • Thinner mix: For filling small cracks and shallow surface imperfections.
  • Thicker mix: For rebuilding larger voids, spalled concrete, or deeper damaged areas.

Mix thoroughly until a smooth, uniform, putty-like consistency is achieved.

Application

  1. Clean and prepare the repair area by removing all loose material, dirt, grease, and dust.
  2. Mix the patch compound immediately before use.
  3. Apply with a trowel or putty knife, pressing firmly into cracks and damaged areas.
  4. Smooth the surface to match the surrounding concrete.
  5. Allow the patch to cure before applying the Dura-Rubber High-Build coating.

Storage

  • Keep the Crumb Rubber container or bag tightly sealed when not in use.
  • Store in a cool, clean, dry location.
  • Protect from excessive moisture.

Safety

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Avoid breathing airborne dust during mixing.
  • Wear gloves, safety glasses, and appropriate respiratory protection when handling dry materials.

Disposal

Dispose of unused material and packaging in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
